Lace is one of my favorite materials because of the intricacies of the unique patterns. My appreciation for the delicacies of lace grows whenever I run my hands across the ridges of a hand-embroidered lace piece.
This Fashionista stood out to me not only because of her vibrant hair, but also because of her rocker attire offset with a delicate lace and linen button-down. Although lace is most commonly associated with racy lingerie, lace detailing is actually becoming suitable for almost any event. For a more conservative look, choose pieces with an appropriate amount of lace, such as a lace collar or scallop trimmed hem paired with the traditional tailored pants or pencil skirt. Layering is also a good way to moderate the amount of coverage. A loose fitting lace tank or blouse can be worn over another tank or over a colorful bandeau bra for a fun going out look. I would recommend color block accent accessories to complement the bandeau bra under lace.
This Fashionista models a casual chic lace look with an edge. She really pulls off the combination of classic Dr. Martens and black skinny jeans with her lace detailed top. Adding a cropped leather jacket would be another way to counterbalance the soft lace. For a softer day-to-day outfit, I like the idea of layering lace over a chambray oxford and pairing with patterned skinny jeans or frayed denim. Lace and jean is always a good match, and more recently I have seen the two fabrics together in one button-down for a winning combination!
