FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Christine Spasoff

Fashionista Spotlight

Fall weather has officially rolled in and this Fashionista is well prepared. In fact, she’s excited! As soon as I saw her I was filled with adoration of her edgy look and flawless balance of accessories. I adored her even more when I found out she was a fellow Sex and the City fan.

Name: Christine Spasoff

Major: Journalism

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: Are you going to miss summer fashion?

Christine Spasoff: Not really. I love the scarves, sweaters and layers that come with fall. It's just so comfy and cozy, and I am so excited for it to get colder out.

CF: What’s your absolute favorite thing about fall fashion?

CS: I guess I love scarves the most. They can change up any outfit and spice up a boring look. I have so many in my closet and it's great to finally be able to wear them.

CF: I noticed you have on a lot of accessories. Is that the usual?

CS: I love accessories! I love mixing multiple styles of bracelets with my favorite watch to create wrist bling, and I absolutely love rings. They're so much fun, especially for statement looks. They're a great way to say something by just walking in the room. I'm really basic with my earrings, but other than that my motto is 'go big or go home.'

CF: Where's your favorite place to shop for accessories?

CS: I probably shouldn't be telling you my secret, but I buy all my accessories wholesale in downtown Chicago. They usually just sell to retailers, but I get great deals there even though it's just for me. Other than that, I love Nordstrom or Tiffany's for more investment pieces; they're for looks that are classic and never go out of style. I love mixing the expensive and inexpensive pieces to create a completely unique look.

CF: Fill in the blank: I wouldn’t trade my _________ for anything.

CS: My gold 'Christine' necklace. It makes me feel like Carrie Bradshaw and I love it. I wear it with everything!

How To: A black leather jacket is a staple piece for an edgy look like this Fashionsta’s. As for the wrist bling, be sure to pick pieces that complement each other through color and style. This leather wrist strap and studded bracelet would make a great pair. Finally, add a feminine touch with a dark floral scarf. This Fashionista went with a triple loop, but there are tons of ways to tie scarves. Have fun with it and experiment until you find a look you love.
