FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Caitlyn Coburn

Fashionista Spotlight

Cabin fever has definitely taken its toll on all of us this winter. But I feel like I can finally say that spring is on its way! The transition from winter to spring can be very exciting for any Fashionista’s wardrobe; it is fun to switch out that chunky sweater for a bold and flowing top, or your puffy winter coat for the trench coat that you have been dying to wear. This Fashionista is definitely ready for spring, but she made sure not to over-do it. Going all out spring when it is still only 40 degrees may put you in a sticky (and very cold) situation. She stuck with the classic pairing of boots and skinny jeans, but went for a bright pink blouse that is spring-like yet wont leave her freezing. On top of all of that she added accessories that really pop even against a bright pink shirt.

Name: Caitlyn Coburn

Major: Art History

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: I love your accessories! Where did you purchase everything?

Caitlyn Coburn: I got my boots, top and bag at PacSun. My watch is Michael Kors, and I bought my bracelet from BaubleBar.

CF: Do you have a signature item in your wardrobe?

CC: Right now it would probably be either boots or anything with studs on it. Clearly you can see that I am drawn to studs.

CF: How would you describe your personal style?

CC: I like to say it is girly with an edge. I really like black, but I don’t want to over-do it, so I try to add pops of color to switch it up a little bit.

CF: Has your style changed since you have gotten to college?

CC: Yes. In high school I was always very casual and comfy–I wore a lot of hoodies. When I got to college, fashion became more of a place for me to be creative and get exciting about my fashion choices.

CF: Since you have such great accessories, what is your favorite way to accessorize?

CC: Right now my favorite thing to do is layer different bracelets. You’ve caught me on a day without many on, but usually I have a whole stack on my wrist.

How To: Caitlyn’s look is great for both winter and spring. Try a pair of black skinny jeans with a bright colored top like this one from Forever 21. Accessorize with fun bracelets like this bold rose gold one and this multi-colored one, both from BaubleBar. On your feet, go for these Steve Madden studded boots. Finally, as the weather gets warmer, switch to jean shorts with patterned tights!
