Denim has been a staple in fashion since the late 1800s when Levi Strauss first started out. We’ve seen it be used for just about every type of article of clothing in its true blue color. Now, denim has a new twist. We see denim in every color under the sun from neon orange to pastel pink. It gives Fashionistas everywhere a new spin on their wardrobe, and I personally love the colors I’ve seen this season.
The best neutrals to pair your colored denim with this season are shades of white, peach and ivory. This week’s CollegeFashionista pulled this look off effortlessly with her cropped pants from Ann Taylor Loft and her ivory crochet top covering a white tube top. This look is a great way to ease into the trend. When you get more comfortable, try color blocking with a complementary color to your jean's color. For example, you could wear purple bottoms with a yellow top. You could also go monochromatic and mix different shades of the same color. This can be done by wearing a pair of blush pink jeans with a coral pink shirt. If you want to spice your outfit up even more, try a print or pattern with your jeans — you can never go wrong with adding a little leopard print to an outfit!
With the weather warming up, try a pair of colored shorts to add some personality to your summer wardrobe. For more tips on how to put together the perfect look, check out what this Manhattan College Style Guru has to say.
