Homecoming is a weeklong tradition at the University of Minnesota known for its large variety of student-geared events. With so many different things happening around campus this week, it creates one dilemma…what to wear? While I cross my fingers and hope that warm weather will be upon us during this week of university events, I set out on campus looking for all of you to inspire me for this homecoming!
One piece that I have noticed is back in style this season is the denim jacket. I usually love the look of a classic denim jacket with black denim or tights, but when I saw how this Fashionista sported her jacket, I was inspired. This trendy student was spotted on St. Paul campus pairing her denim jacket with an ultra feminine lace dress. The pairing is so simple, yet perfect. With the tough and casual look of the denim and flirty and soft elegance of the lace dress, it creates a trendy balance between the two classic pieces that every girl should try!
To try this look out for yourself, start with a plain denim jacket. A dark or light color would both work with this look. The next part is finding that perfect piece of flirty lace. I love this Modcloth top and think the elaborate floral embroidery would look great with the jacket. Otherwise, this great 60’s-inspired sleeveless dress from Topshop would look fabulous under the coat. This Fashionista went bare-legged, but you never know with Minnesota weather! If it happens to be cold out this homecoming, you could also add a pair of tights to your dress. If you don’t pick lace for your top, you could also try a lacey-patterned tight!
Hint: This Fashionista went casual with leather sandals. But you could rock out this look with some leather boots!
