Dressing for the holidays makes me absolutely giddy. I mean, there aren’t many times when you have a break from schoolwork, a chance to sleep in and the opportunity to spend much needed time with family. The combination of so many good things plus fun holiday traditions excites and inspires me; as a Fashionista, these feelings come out through my ensemble styling, obviously. Plus holidays are always a good excuse for a little extra glitz and glam, which I am all about.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so it’s officially time to start planning a killer outfit that’s perfect for hanging out on the coziest of holidays. I always like to dress up a little bit for holidays just to make them feel more special, so I picked out this drop-waist dress (that I plan on wearing everyday for the rest of my life) and paired it with black tights and some serious glitter ankle boots. Topped off with this oversized, studded denim jacket, I felt ready to face my family and enormous amounts of food in style.
Once Thanksgiving is over, the last few weeks of school and final exams fly by; before you know it, it’s time to pack up and head home for winter break. When I finish my last exam, I like to take a breath and pull myself together. Who wants to head home looking like a mess? Trust me though; I understand the importance of donning as comfortable of a look as possible. I think I found the right balance of fashion and comfort with my traveling ensemble, which consisted of these lightweight, high-waist, polka-dot pants and an oversized white T-shirt that I tied in a cute knot at my waist. I finished it off with the same studded jean jacket I wore in my Thanksgiving outfit, because what outfit couldn’t use this jacket? And wedge sneakers are all the rage for a reason. Can you believe how cool these ones are? A swipe of red lipstick pulled the casual look together.
New Year’s Eve is a great holiday for fashion, but I can’t stand another sequined mini-dress this year. Statement pants are a major trend right now, and I am loving it. I decided to dress up the polka-dot pants I wore in my traveling home ensemble by pairing them with a flattering, silver peplum shirt, the glitter ankle boots (which were made for New Year’s Eve, right?) and a cool cross necklace. Dark lips and an enormous bun add just the right amount of drama to complete the look.
