It’s the most wonderful time of the year Fashionistas and I’m not talking Christmas — it’s time to back-to-school shop ‘til we drop! Classes have started and we’ve scanned the streets of campus to get a little taste of the latest trends. Now it’s time to start stuffing that closet with fall looks.
Personally, I love fall shopping. The colors are deep, rich hues, the layering possibilities are endless and the textures are to die for. Sometimes it can get a little overwhelming. I run from store to store and find everything and nothing — too many choices! The solution my dear Fashionistas? Macy’s mstylelab of course!
Walking into the mstylelab was like being presented with an entire selection of clothes that were already mine. I swear, I wanted everything; it all fit my personality and style so well!
I seemed to gravitate toward American Rag, which ended up making up the majority of my purchases. They have great boho looks with an edge. Their chunky sweaters (my favorite) were tricky to resist, but the lacy skirts, loose cardigans and clean-cut lines of dresses and jackets won me over.
My first outfit is very fifties inspired. The bateau neckline screams retro housewife but the pixelated print gives a glimpse into the future of clothing design. It has the perfect amount of flare that makes your legs look fantastic, and it gets even better. The back of the dress has a bow-style cut out in the back for a subtle flash of skin. This is a lovely date-night ensemble, or even the perfect dress for going to a university play or opera.
The next outfit is definitely more casual. It could be the go-to classroom option. This simple three-piece ensemble is perfect for fall. Everyone knows that layers are the prime choice for the fall transition, and this brown leather vest is an impeccable piece. Wear it open over a tank or close it up with the cute asymmetrical zipper and wear it over a long sleeve tee for a blustery day. The pants give comfort and warmth and are great to pair with booties or even some low heels. And of course, army green is all the rage this fall. It goes great with the rust colored vest. Jazz it up with some gold accessories for some unadulterated fall fun.
The last Macy’s mstylelab look is long, loose and lacy. The cardigan was actually the first item to catch my attention when I entered Macy’s. This detailed knit is quaint and cozy, with some awesome lace trim to give it a unique and relaxed spin. But the lace doesn’t stop there; I came across an adorable high-low, high-waisted, crimson lace skirt. Paired together, you get a cream and crimson mash-up of lacy perfection. Very haute Hoosier, if you ask me. The relaxed cut of both garments lays loose and flows when you walk. It’s great for a night out with the gals or a stroll around campus. Or, if you want to sport your school spirit in style instead of wearing the usual cut up Kilroy’s tank, wear it at a tailgate or the big game. Just don’t spill!
