When I think of rain boots, I think of rain — I mean who wouldn’t? Although, that state of mind has altered for me when I was introduced to Hunter boots. Hunter has a wide array of rain boots from classic colors to glossy hues, all of which are cute and convenient. So cute and fashionable that these boots deserve to be seen on all occasions.
Styling rain boots can be tricky especially if you live on the West Coast like I do. Living fifteen minutes away from two beaches, specifically Newport Beach and Corona del Mar, has UC Irvine students wearing shorts and a sweater for most of the year. How can you blame us when the temperature is in the mid-70s with a slight ocean breeze every day? Not to mention, cold weather doesn’t even kick in until mid to late November! Yet, there are times when we can sneak in a warm cardigan or beanie without looking completely off.
On those days where the morning is cold and rainy and, later, gives way to a warmer afternoon, rain boots are your answer. In my case, I’m wearing a denim button-down, polka-dot high-waisted shorts, charcoal knee-high socks and green Hunter boots. I’m warm on top and on bottom while showing off the right amount of skin. This is an ideal outfit for class. Similar to leather lace-up boots, Hunter boots offer a fashionable shoe choice that will tie your outfit together. For an alternative ensemble, you can style these boots with a mini dress, a suede moto jacket and knee-length socks, or dark denim skinny jeans and a white button-down for a more classic look.
I’m wearing the Original Tour Boot, Hunter’s foldable and packable style (check out their fun video here). The great thing about these boots is how easily packable they are. If I were planning to meet a professor during office hours or make a presentation, I could easily switch these boots for another pair of shoes. These boots are lightweight and durable. The material is made of natural rubber and is flexible enough to fold the boot twice making it a perfect fit in my tote.
Another scenario where rain boots would be a great sartorial, and practical, choice would be at the beach. At one of my favorite beaches, Corona del Mar, I’m wearing a white lace-trimmed bell-bottom-sleeved top and white cut-off shorts. First off, white is my favorite color to wear especially at the beach. White is always appropriate and easy. It’s a versatile color that can be mixed and matched with every color or print. Having said that, the forest green color of my boots adds the perfect pop of color in my all-white ensemble. If you follow my route, you can purchase Hunter boots in another color, such as a bold red or a risky sovereign purple. With my outfit, I can walk into the ocean without getting my entire outfit wet and I can also prevent sand from getting in between my toes as sandals otherwise would.
When styled right, rain boots can serve as both fashionable and functional shoe wear. Invest in a good rain boot, such as Hunter boots, and be creative!
