CollegeFashionista Spring Break City Guide—London

Brought to you by American Eagle Outfitters

Samuel Johnson once said, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” The quote is a cliché for a reason, because it’s true. London is a boundless city of beauty, knowledge and culture.

London also happens to be a major fashion capital, so looking stylish while taking in all this magical city has to offer is key. We are currently loving the American Eagle Outfitters Jogger Short. Not only are they totally in line with the sportswear trend, but they are also the perfect piece for a long day of sightseeing. Pair them with the American Eagle Outfitters short sleeve oxford shirt and camp watch for a look that’s awesome from sport to street.

Now that you are dressed like a local, it is time to hit up the hottest spots in London Town.

Brunch — London understands that brunch is a not-so-guilty pleasure for all of us and makes sure you can’t walk more than a few blocks without finding a decent spot. Balans on Kensington High Street’s bomb mixed berry pancakes and amazing all day breakfast deal make this place pretty packed on the weekends. Go in anyway, you’ll never wait more than five minutes to be seated and the atmosphere and fresh squeezed OJ will have you never wanting to leave.

Sightseeing — Do it all. London sightseeing is, in a word, breathtaking. Be sure to hit up the essentials like Big Ben, The London Eye, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham and Kensington Palace, Trafalgar Square and Oxford Circus. Don’t forget to stop by Carnaby Street for cool shops and cooler decorations and Covent Garden for shopping, dining and all things in between!

Shopping — Obviously you can’t leave London without stopping at Primark. This place is huge, filled with trendy pieces and absurdly inexpensive. If you have enough patience to spend a chunk of time in here, you can come out with some amazing steals.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have to pop in Harrod’s and Liberty at least once. Each are fairly high-end and carry exclusively designer pieces but the stores are beautiful, something to look at in themselves. Plus, the food and tea at Harrod’s is an experience that every visitor should enjoy.

Markets — Camden Market is the place to be. Everything from eclectic jewelry to delicious doughnuts and cool (not tacky) souvenirs is sold here. Haggle your way through the seemingly never-ending pop up shops and walk away with some London exclusives. Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill is a coagulation of high-end fashion stores (think All Saints) and eclectic knick knacks and clothing. Every day specializes in a different item so check online so you can pick the best day for you. The most important market obviously has to do with food. Borough Market is an absolute MUST. Just get the grilled cheese from Kappacasein Dairy. Even though it’s six pounds, you won’t be sorry. The grilled cheese stand is only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday so be sure to go then. If you go during the week go to La Tua Pasta, the ravioli will change your life.

Hidden GemMontparnasse in Kensington is a utopia. It’s an absolute favorite. They make an incredible panini and even more incredible desserts. AND it’s inexpensive for the pricey neighborhood. The owners will make you swoon and it’s one of David Beckham’s favorites, so you know it’s amazing.
