I’m going to be blunt with you all: I hate February. No, not just because of an obligatory holiday where I seriously think the creator of said holiday wants everyone without a significant other by their side to drown in a red and pink sea of sorrow (Am I being dramatic?). I loathe February here in San Francisco because the weather is just the worst. The forecast for the month is usually rain with a 100% chance of it already raining… Come February 1st I was mentally prepared—my St. Tropez self-tanner, a play-list of summer songs and a picture of the coast on my desktop. But something strange has been happening here… it has been sunny every day of February. A little chilly, mind you, but nonetheless beautiful.
These rays of winter sunshine are just in time for some spring fashion inspiration from American Eagle. We all have a pair of shorts that we live in through out the spring and summer months. The ones that rarely get washed because of that perfect worn in feel, the ones that go with everything in your wardrobe and the ones that just make your legs fantastic. Ladies, these are those shorts: the American Eagle Outfitters Distressed Denim Shorties. The color is perfect to dress up or down and has that “lived in” feeling with the softness of the fabric and subtly distressed left pocket.
I styled my shorts with my favorite crème button down, Kate Spade eye-glasses, a black messenger back for a day of classes and, of course, a chic top-knot. I finished the look with some platform sandals for some extra oomph. These shorts are great for a long day of class, shopping with friends, music festivals, a day out exploring—these are your go-to shorts for spring that you’ll live in through summer. For a look like mine, pair your distressed denim shorties with this eyelet blouse and Dolce Vita Wedges. Layer on some bracelets and you’re good to go. Not into wedges or platforms? These Clarks sandals are adorable and go with everything.
I can’t wait to wear these all spring peaking out through oversized sweaters and with my favorite vintage T-shirts. Southern California summer dreamin’ starts now.
