Winter is slowly fading away. Even though the sun feels brighter and warmer every day, I can still feel a cool breeze of wind hit my body as I walk around campus. Most believe shorts are meant to be worn during hot days only… does that mean that it’s bad if you wear shorts during a cool yet fairly warm day? Of course not… unless it’s snowing outside (in which case you should be cozied up in bed with your pet or significant other watching your favorite movie and drinking hot chocolate). I have never understood why some people think it’s acceptable to wear short skirts during early spring days but think it’s crazy whenever they see someone walking around wearing their favorite shorts. If anything, shorts are even more comfortable.
If you are one of those people that cannot and will not wear shorts unless you feel the sun burning your skin as soon as you step outside your house, try to do as I did with my American Eagle Outfitters Destroyed Denim Shortie.
Even though Tucson had unexpectedly hot days earlier this month, today was quite cold. To keep myself warm during this cool yet warm day, I decided to wear my shorts with flat black boots and a colorful blouse that covered most of my arms and chest. Aside from being extremely comfortable, these shorts have a “light destroy wash” color that allows you to combine them with any color. I love contrasts which is why I decided to go for bright and bold colors. Of course, you don’t always have to go for brighter and bolder colors; you can always wear your shorts with a pale flowery tank top and nude wedges.
The Destroyed Denim Shortie will never fail at giving you the comfort that your legs need. These vintage cool cut offs are 99% cotton and 1% spandex. They are extremely soft and stretchable (no wonder why they are so comfortable!) The 2.25” inseam is the perfect length; they are just long enough to be appropriate to wear and short enough to allow your legs to catch that glimpse of sunshine that you have been impatiently waiting for!
