Nemo attempted to steal Fashion Week’s spotlight and forced many to resort back to heavy winter wear—what a great excuse to style a bright pair of shorts to prepare for the trends that are spring 2013.
Today’s featured short is American Eagle Outfitters Twill Midi Short. I am not one to gravitate towards a bright salmon color or even a chino style short, but these encompass both qualities and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Not only is the fit fantastic, perfectly slung below the waist, but the dressed-up twill qualities allow them to transition from day to night and everywhere in between.
I decided to keep my look sleek and sophisticated by pairing my American Eagle Outfitters shorts with a simple chiffon button-down. The chiffon material keeps the look fun and flirty rather than stiff and stuffy with a plain oxford shirt. To keep with my streamline look I wore a pair of cap-toe metallic flats, American Eagle Outfitters has a similar pair here. The unexpected metallic color adds a little extra classI kept my jewelry simple with a dainty gold necklace and my vintage watch. With shorts this bright, I thought I’d let them do most of the talking.
I can’t wait to incorporate these shorts into my everyday spring and summer wardrobe. The flattering fit will be a comfortable “going to class” option. I plan on sporting my favorite graphic T-shirt/sweater/fun sneaker combination with them for my hurried trips to class. To transition them into night-time festivities, I plan on wearing them with a tucked-in flowy top and my favorite heels. Shorts and heels: it’s a thing. Don’t be shy, you know your calves look good.
I would say I’m usually one to stick to a neutral color palate, but I am excited to add these shorts into my monochromatic mix. Sometimes all you need is a pop of color to transform a drab ensemble into a statement-making sartorial blend.
