I couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to participate in CollegeFashionista’s 28 days of shorts collaboration with American Eagle! While shorts used to be an item that only made an appearance when warmer months drew near, these days shorts can be worn 24/7, 3-6-5. Whether you are wearing shorts with tights underneath for some added warmth or sporting a bare leg look in preparation for spring break, like I am doing here, shorts are always a fun laidback option.
On this particular day I was wearing AE’s crocheted denim shorties in cream. I styled these shorts in an outfit that is perfect for transitioning from winter to spring in a way that shows off the unique detailing and denim color of the shorts. I really love neutral tones so these were right up my alley and I also adore monochromatic looks which is why I chose to pair my shorts with a coordinating cream silk blouse by Parker. The singular base color palette of my look allows the crocheted detailing of the short to really pop and I think that is important when wearing something that deserves a little extra attention. I added a chunky native-inspired sweater with a cascading open front on top for some added warmth and extra dimension. The sweater’s base color is also cream but it additionally brings in some other cool and warm tones like ice blue and a muted brown. By adding a brown leather belt and matching Jeffrey Campbell moto booties, I was able to tie in the brown color from the sweater to the rest of my outfit. The overall effect of this look is an effortless bohemian vibe that is perfect for class, shopping, or a casual lunch date. By adding an arm party, some statement rings, and a couple of layered necklaces, this look’s carefree style is complete!
