Recently I’ve been most inspired by casual wear especially as we get deeper into the month of August. It’s been the summer of mixing highs and lows, specifically pairing the ever crunchy-granola Birkenstock with more tailored pieces. With this look, however, I went in a more weekend androgynous direction. I paired my dad’s oversized blue and white stripe button down with the American Eagle Outfitters cropped jean and added my mom’s old Bottega Veneta backpack, which I use just as much to class as I do on weekends, which is the luxury about a leather backpack – practicality at its’ very finest. As we segue from summer to fall this denim pant in particular is the answer to easy dressing. In college, going from day to night is an important factor when getting dressed. These jeans are just as ideal for class as they are for a night out. Lighter wash denim is unexpected for evening but paired with a contrasting top and a killer pair of heels or platforms propels these cropped American Eagle Outfitter’s from casual and easy to cool and unpredictable.
Tip: I think what’s most important when dressing is truly wearing what you feel most comfortable in whatever that may be. I tend to be drawn to classic pieces with a quirky element such as a rip in a jean or an alligator loafer as opposed to a basic leather loafer. Going with what your eye is drawn to is how you achieve finding comfort in how you dress and going with what feels most like “you” when you walk out the door.
