One of my favorite parts about CollegeFashionista is connecting with our Style Gurus. This talented group share a passion for fashion, photography and writing. When college ends, this passion does not waiver. Take for example, Katherine Lukas. Katherine was our very first Style Guru at University of Notre Dame. Today, she is working for a Public Relations powerhouse, living in her dream city and making a name for herself in the industry. Oh, and she is still blogging about fashion. Somethings never change! Read on to learn more about Katherine and her path post-CollegeFashionista.
Hello my fellow Fashionistas! I can’t believe how time has flown since my last STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column in May. I graduated this past spring from the University of Notre Dame where I majored in Marketing with a minor in Gender Studies. Since my days as ND’s first-ever Style Guru, I’ve moved to the Windy City to begin a career in the exciting field of Public Relations. I’m thrilled to call myself an official “Zenoid” at Edelman’s sister agency, Zeno Group, where entrepreneurial spirit and big ideas are at play each day.
I’ve always dreamed of living in my native sweet home Chicago to start life in the “Real World”—from fashion and culture to great food and stunning architecture, there really is no place like it. I absolutely love working steps away from Michigan Avenue where Mag Mile shops make it all too easy to brush up on the season’s latest trends. The trend-spotting continues at the office where I’m constantly inspired by the stylings of my coworkers. From fabulous heels to must-have gems, the Zeno ladies are quite the Fashionistas!
As an Assistant Account Executive in Zeno’s Consumer Marketing division, I’ve had amazing opportunities to work on top clients like Pizza Hut, Kenmore appliances, Allstate Foundation and more. Each day is filled with countless opportunities for creativity like agency brainstorms, campaign development and the best part: coordination and execution. It’s so fulfilling to see an idea come to life right before our eyes! One of my favorite projects so far has been the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse campaign that invited thought-leaders, celebrities and allies to pass more than 37,000 purple purses across the country in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month. The purses contained resources about the often-ignored cause and raised $250,000 for the YWCA to help domestic violence survivors.
While I continue to embrace my love for personal style, whether headed to the office or happy hour, I also maintain my own blog, Cocoa & Lace, to feature the sweeter things in life—fashion and dessert. All recipes and corresponding photographs are my own. I intend to grow the site this coming year with more frequent content and am adding a link to my etsy site (spring launch) where I’ll sell a line of my exclusive hand-crafted jewelry. Stay tuned!
It’s so wonderful to check in with all of you again – may this spring semester be filled with endless opportunities to pursue your passions and express yourself on your campus runway. Until next time…
