CLASS OF 2015: Laila

When I look back at my time at Austin College, the word that comes to my mind is “unforgettable.” The countless hours spent studying, the seemingly endless lectures and the crazy nights with my friends made me realize that I wouldn’t change anything about my college experience. I’ve definitely had my ups and downs these past four years, but college has taught me so much about who I am and who I want to be. Though I will miss the amazing friends I made here at Austin College, I can’t wait to start this new chapter of my life.

I’ve always known that I wanted to purse a career in the business side of fashion, but for a long time, I had no clue which path to choose. I’m a huge fan of fashion blogs like Sincerely Jules, Song of Style and The Sartorialist, so I wanted to find a career in which I could utilize my passion for fashion journalism and blogging. I applied to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista to develop my editorial writing skills, and I’m so glad I did! It’s so exciting to be a tiny part of the fashion industry, and this internship has really opened my eyes to possible career choices in the industry. I also love being able to connect with Style Gurus at other schools, and I really appreciate the sense of community that CollegeFashionista has provided.

My dream is to work PR for a high end fashion company and after graduation, I hope to find a fashion public relations internship in NYC. I’m so grateful for the doors that CollegeFashionista has opened for me, and even though I was a Style Guru for only one semester, I will certainly miss the CollegeFashionista community.
