Graduation is such a surreal experience. It’s one of those life events that you can’t prepare yourself for, and only once it happens does it seem real.
For me, college has been a bit of different experience than most. While most of my friends went to a state university to discover what life had in store, I already knew where I would be headed. I moved into the city to go to a fashion and design college, determined to get the most out of my time and prepare myself for the career I had always dreamt of. Honestly, I couldn’t even dream this big.
During my fast three years of college, my experiences have been a complete whirlwind. I have worked in fashion shows for some of the biggest producers and designers, met amazing professionals in the industry, become a board member of the leading fashion non-profit in Dallas, traveled to NYC by myself to attend Teen Vogue Fashion University, become a fashion blogger and public relations guru, got my own apartment and met some of the most wonderful people imaginable. I am truly living the life I always wanted, and I couldn’t be more grateful and feel more blessed.
After graduation, I will continue living in the heart of Dallas just enjoying being a 20-something in the city. I’m so excited to continue doing the work that I love as a board member for the esteemed FASHIONISTAS organization, running my style blog Giraffes and Jewels, working events with Culture Hype public relations and working full-time as the marketing coordinator for West Village here in Dallas.
As corny as it sounds, if you work hard, dress to kill and show kindness to others, you will reach your goals. Keep it up, my fellow Fashionistas/os! We’ve got this.
