This past weekend I had the fabulous pleasure of attending one of London Fashion Week’s public events. It’s one of the only Fashion Week events in the world that opens their doors to the public after the week’s runways shows and events. I was able to watch a show sporting the latest trends and upcoming styles for spring and summer. Fashionistas were in their element as two wings of Somerset House were dedicated to discounted shopping, activities and drinks. Famous labels and up-and-coming designers were all there and free massages, snacks and photo shoots were offered to entertain any girl for hours.
I spotted this week’s Fashionista as I was leaving the runway show with the rest of the crowd. She was part of a whole group of fashionable ladies, but her stylish blazer and purse caught my attention. One of my favorite trends carried over from fall is the mixed fabric blazer. Whether it’s tweed and leather or canvas and leather, it always looks so edgy and cool. Her blazer is my favorite fabric combination so far. It creates an eye-catching contrast that adds more character to her outfit. She dresses it down with classic jeans but keeps it formal on top with a white button up studded oxford blouse. Her brown boots as well help give the outfit an overall relaxed vibe and keep with the neutral tones. To add some pop to her outfit she accessories with a big and bright red bag. It’s the perfect size for stashing all the freebies from the show!
Adding this trend to your closet is easy to do. Even if it’s not tweed, leather, or canvas, you can still mix and match fabrics to create your own color block. I always favor more subdued colors but it’s up to you to push it however far you want to go. Fashion is about having fun and trying new things to create your own personal style!
