With school back in session, snow on the ground and temperatures dropping, it seems as though the sun may never shine again. While this Fashionista bundles up beneath boots and fur, she chooses to bring her own sunshine with a bright neon tote.

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Lauren Bayly: I’m wearing Steve Madden boots with a button down from Forever 21. I got my jeans, vest and watch from Nordstrom and my necklace is Kate Spade. This ring was my Grandma’s in the ’50s. It’s real turquoise and silver!
CF: How would you describe your style?
LB: I tend to keep it simple and classic. I don’t normally go for all the crazy trends. I’m from California so I’d say my style is usually pretty casual.
CF: What’s the biggest difference you notice in the way people dress in Indiana compared to California?
LB: Everyone wears heels and skirts here when they go out, even when there’s snow on the ground! California is a lot more laid back.
CF: If money weren’t an issue, what’s one item you would love to splurge on?
LB: Christian Louboutin shoes.
How To: Lauren’s look features many winter wardrobe staples that I think every girl should own. A great pair of boots is a smart investment because they can be worn with just about anything. Steve Madden has an awesome selection of boots in a variety of colors and styles. A fur vest is another one of my favorite pieces for cooler climates because, again, it can be worn with just about anything. Try layering a fur vest over a dress, a sweater or a sheer button-up blouse. Finally, add a pop of neon with your accessories to really brighten up these gloomy winter days.
