Lately, I have been looking at many urban trends, yet it’s time to take a look at the other end of the spectrum. My attention immediately turned to this Fashionisto, as I walked outside of the student center to catch a bus. His preppy look wasn’t adorned with the typical cardigan sweater or tie. Instead, he had his own twist on what he defined as preppy.
He wore a white button-down shirt. A plaid or chambray button-down shirt can be worn to achieve this look, too. Remember that the shirt must have a collar, Fashionistos! The collar should be folded over the top of the sweater you choose to wear. Don’t forget to make sure you untuck the bottom of the shirt. The button-down shirt peeking out from underneath his sweater gave this Fashionisto’s outfit its preppy vibe.
This Fashionisto layered this burgundy Champion crewneck sweater over hi button-down shirt. Take a trip to a thrift store where you can find a better deal on a similar sweater. I have shopped in the men’s section several times, so I know that big comfy sweaters for $5 are worth the trip.
You are not limited to crewneck sweaters, so try cardigan or V-neck sweaters to change up your look. If you choose to wear one of these alternatives, put on a tie or bow-tie. Neckwear will be sure to give you a preppy private school aesthetic.
This Fashionisto had on this pair of gray Vans with red laces. This type of shoe helps make walking from class to class more bearable, since Vans are very comfortable. Although they are similar to sneakers, Vans definitely create a more stylish look.
