This week’s featured look was inspired by a preppy style, too. I immediately compared this Fashionisto’s style with J.Crew’s spring 2013 menswear collection. In this collection, Frank Muytjens highlighted brighter shades and colors, after sticking to darker navy shades last season. J.Crew is a specialty retailer in men, women and children’s apparel and accessories. It is publicly well known to feature polished ready-to-wear outfits for business, travel and everyday attire.
This Fashionisto presented his own version of a J.Crew outfit. He styled his outfit around this pink button-down shirt. Thanks to the sunny weather, this Fashionisto remembered to bring a pair of shades. He left them tucked into his shirt–ready to wear as soon as the sun started to shine.
Although spring has yet to arrive, this Fashionisto took advantage of the nice weather. It was not cold enough to wear a jacket, however, he still chose to layer a navy blue cardigan over his shirt. He wore a pair of khaki pants, too. Although jeans would be great for this look, this pair of pants created an alternative casual look that was appropriate for both class and work.
He cuffed the bottom of his pants to draw attention to his Sperry Top-Siders. Don’t forget to cuff yours as well, Fashionistos! Show off whatever pair of shoe you have, even if you don’t have Sperry Top-Siders. You have the option to wear any style of boat shoe or penny loafer instead.
The final touch to this outfit was his Otium canvas messenger bag. It was big enough to carry his laptop, books and other personal belongings. This bag is ideal for the average college student.
Hint: Take a look at J.Crew for more ideas on how to achieve a polished business look. Don’t limit yourself to only expensive brands. You can check out H&M, Forever 21, American Eagle Outfitters or Urban Outfitters for similar pieces. If cardigans aren’t your style, try a blazer or vest. Take a risk and even try a patterned or printed button-down shirt. Don’t forget to be innovative and stay true to your personal style, Fashionistos.
