At last, after over a month of featuring only Fashionistas I finally encountered a impeccably dressed Fashionisto this week. Admist all the frat boys dressed in polos and khaki shorts, it is extremely refreshing to have found a Fashionisto bold enough to rock an outfit that pushes the fashion envelop (in a very good way). This Fashionisto’s impressive street style showcases a fabulous example of re-vamped retro.
Re-inventing Athens’ classic preppy style, this Fashionisto paired a brightly colored plaid short-sleeved button down with a grey-ish brown vest that creates a great color contrast. Giving the outfit an even more unique look, his white bow-tie adds a dressier aspect to the attire that complements his casual-grunge rolled up denim shorts. Making this outfit all the more fabulous are his patent leather booties, a daring fashion move in the summer heat.
One of the things I admire most about this Fashionisto’s outfit is his ability to put together 5 pieces that are very distinct on their own and coordinate them into a cohesive look. His ensemble was very fashion forward, and reminds me of something that the always avant-garde Andre 3000 would wear.
Hint: To recreate this look yourself, find an old pair of jeans that could use a makeover and cut them off to make slim leg denim shorts. Also, look to stores like Urban Outfitters to find retro-esque plaid shirts like the one this Fashionisto is wearing. Don’t forget to check out local thrift stores for amazing items like his vintage vest and bow tie.
