As the college lifestyle of drinking beer and frequent late-night feasting seems to often take its toll on the appeal of wearing a skin-tight, curve hugging dress, it has taken me a while to find a body conscious clothing item that I find comfortable to wear and flattering on almost everyone. However, the recent trend of form fitting and banded mini skirts has caught my eye because I have noticed girls of all different body types pulling this look off effortlessly. Form fitting skirts are a fantastic wardrobe staple because they can be worn for a day-time look with a basic t-shirt or tank, and switched up towards dressier nighttime style paired with a silk or chiffon tank that can poof slightly over the waistband.
This week’s Fashionista opted for a daytime look in her colorful form-fitting skirt by wearing it with a tight scoop neck white tee, a basic black belt, and an adorable pair of gold gladiator sandals. What I love most about this look is the vibrant colors in this Fashionista’s skirt. The combination of cobalt blue, teal, aqua, magenta, and black make the skirt a striking piece that can be worn with a top as simple as her white t-shirt and still make a significant fashion statement. Needless to say, I was depressed when I learned that the skirt was a purchase made down under in Australia. Luckily for those of you who love this skirt as much as I do, I found a few form-fitting skirts with similarly vivid prints from Free People. The Whiplash Mini and Printed Body Con Skirt were my personal favorites.
Hint: Feeling daring? Make a bold fashion statement with this eye-catching sequined mini by Haute Hippie, but make sure to keep things basic on the top.
