FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Gianluca Inglesi

Fashionisto Spotlight

When it comes to outerwear, there are so many different options you can play around with in the winter time, whether that may be an oversized military parka, a wool peacoat or maybe a fur-lined bomber. There are so many possibilities. I spotted this Fashionisto on campus wearing a unique combination of a leather jacket underneath a fantastic cape-style coat. I love how his overall look has a modern European feel.

Name: Gianluca Inglesi

Major: Journalism

Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Gianluca Inglesi: My style is about as versatile as they come. I like to mix it up because I get bored very easily. My looks range from androgynous punk to preppy collegiate. I dress for the occasion, or moreso how I feel about the occasion.

CF: What are some of your wardrobe staples?

GI: I wear a lot of black. And many shades of grey. I feel like contrasting the darks and lights of those shades makes a bold statement and makes me feel more confident. Having said that, I am a sucker for most things sheer and I have a great affection for a good vintage knittoo comfortable to pass up.

CF: Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

GI: Mostly from the designers I follow closely every season and brands like Givenchy and Alexander Wang. There are certain looks I will save an image of and try to emulate with my own pieces, but other times it will be more of a general inspiration.

CF: Whose closet would you love to raid and why?

GI: So many answers to this question. But I feel like I'd benefit the most by raiding Leigh Lezark's closet. Her choices can be so daring, but her style is very smart. She knows when to turn up the drama but when to also keep it low-key and be more subtly put together. And no one pulls off the black on black look like she can!

CF: What season do you get most excited to dress for?

GI: A popular answer I'm sure but I have to say fall. The mild air is perfect for just the right amount of layering and trying new things with unused pieces of your wardrobe. I just wish it would last longer.

How To: Start off with a white collared dress shirt and a pair of gray acid wash jeans. Then add a leather jacket and a black cape-style overcoat. Although this Fashionisto got his from Europe, you can look for similar styles at local retailers or shop online. Then finish off with a pair of classic black leather loafers.
