FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Brian Boudreau

Fashionisto Spotlight

Throwing on leopard prints or zebra stripes may be a way to incorporate wildlife into your outfit, but why not take it to the next level? I spotted this Fashionisto, wearing a fierce shirt that featured a tiger’s face. He rocked this shirt. I loved how his look was edgy and cool, but he kept this outfit simple for a casual day on campus.

Name: Brian Boudreau

Major: Journalism

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Brian Boudreau: I would say my style is eclectic and unpredictable. I might feel like wearing a classy button-down shirt and dress pants one day, which I’m known for doing even when I only go to class, or I might opt for a pair of bold-coloured skinny jeans and an over-sized sweater the next day. Either way, I like complementing bold colours with quieter tones, so it’s not too much of an assault on the senses.

CF: What are some of your wardrobe staples?

BB: Patterns, patterns, patterns! I really don’t think I could do without my David Bitton trench coat, which is possibly my most favourite possession.

CF: Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

BB: I check Tumblr almost daily, getting ideas from different homme collections that I’ll see on there. I also draw inspiration from iconic figures, such as David Bowie and Elton John, who are great fashion pioneers for men.

CF: Whose closet would you love to raid and why?

BB: Kanye West’s wardrobe would be cool to raid, I suppose. His style is forward-thinking and fresh.

CF: If money weren’t an issue, what one item would you love to splurge on?

BB: Right now, I’m really obsessed with the Dior Homme fall/winter 2013 collection, so I would probably go with one of their pieces. It is literally perfection.

CF: What are some of your tips and tricks for looking stylish on campus without breaking the bank?

BB: I’m a big believer in accidental fashion finds. It’s not so much about where you are, but about what you find. I found this shirt in the hunting section of a Walmart in Florida, so I’m living proof that it does happen! Checking out some of the stores in Kensington Market is also a good idea. You never know what you’ll find!

How To: Start off with an animal-themed shirt and add a fitted black leather jacket. Then, throw on a pair of jeans and comfy sneakers. Finish off this look with a sleek brown leather folder.
