I am a sucker for feminine colour palettes, fun floral prints and soft silhouettes, so when I saw this Fashionista, I quickly fell in love with her outfit. I like how she brings together the colours pink and green, creating a perfect combination of classy and cute. I especially love how the green really pops out from the overall look but yet the entire outfit works so effortlessly well together!

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Lyndsay Shields: I find that I mostly wear fresh, but muted colours. I have a tendency to lean towards baggier sweaters or tops, but I also love to wear them with structure or dresses and skirts! It's hard to describe my style in a word, but I would definitely say I go for comfortable but classic.
CF: What should every Fashionista have in her closet?
LS: I feel like a key staple in everyone's closet would be a crisp, plain white T-shirt. It's always classic, and I love to slip into a white tee and a pair of jeans on those days where I feel like I don't have anything to wear. It's clean, it can be worn with almost anything and it's so easy to accessorize.
CF: What's your favourite item in your closet and why?
LS: My favourite item would have to be my oversized, double-breasted black wool knit from BCBG. It's warm and easy to put with other pieces, I can wear it with almost anything, and in all honesty it's just super comfy. The only downfall of this piece is that it's definitely not for summer — it's way too heavy.
CF: What are your favourite summer trends this year?
LS: One of my favourite trends is definitely colourful shorts — another thing that would look good with that white T-shirt! I think it's a nice way to brighten up an outfit and put a spin on denim shorts. I'm also really enjoying the boat shoe trend, it's a great look!
How To: You can find a huge variety of floral dresses in almost every store these days — perfect for the summertime and a great wardrobe piece that can be dressed up or down. For this look, play with the pink and green colour combination, pairing a cute floral dress with a pale pink blazer and emerald green accessories and flats. Finish it off with a neutral-toned crossbody purse, maybe vintage like this Fashionista's!
