STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Calling All Camo!

Style Advice of the Week

The moment has arrived, I’ve finally found a Fashionisto who’s outfit has got something worth talking about. There’s a lot of things done well here, but I’ll stick to a single trend here to make it easier. It’s safe to say the camouflage pattern is nothing new. It’s made a big comeback in the fashion world but lets face it, it’s always been there but only recently is being utilized. Aside from the true purpose of a camouflage pattern, blending in with your environment, nothing about throwing some camo into your everyday attire will have you blending in.

I’ve done some research about how pulling off the combat look can go just right.  I’ve also figured out how it can go horribly wrong. Many described it as a game of high risk/high reward. But that’s how it is with every bold fashion statement. So like I mention every week, take a chance and try something new. The key to pulling off a camo pattern is to keep it in moderation; we don’t want you looking like you just walked off the battle field. I suggest using one key item with your outfit. If we take a look at this Fashionisto, he did just that. The khaki shorts with a solid black v-neck draw perfect attention away to all the nitty gritty parts of the outfit and right to the camo shirt. I’m always a fan of a guy who unbuttons a button up shirt. It makes an outfit look a tad more casual and adds a little depth to the look.

There are a few subtle tricks to pulling off this Fashionisto’s outfit that need pointing out. The first one being the red hat. For all I know he’s trying to make a Holden Caulfield type of statement, who knows, but whatever he’s trying to convey, it works. With the colors of the outfit being neutral, I myself wouldn't think to add a pop of color like that. A bold statement like this is what gets your camo look noticed. Continuing with the color scheme, I admire the colors in the pattern of the shirt. Rather than the traditional shades of green, this print adds a little blue. Like I’ve said, color can be everything. Mixing nontraditional colors in such a traditional pattern is what makes the gives this look a modern twist. If there’s any advice you can get out of this week’s Fashionisto, it’s taking something traditional or potentially mundane and giving it your own twist. Remember, camouflage isn’t just for the battle field.
