LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Button It Up!

Let's Hear it for the Boys

In a crisp button-up, cuffed jeans and oxfords, this week’s Fashionisto keeps it casually chic. Though often associated with stuffy boardrooms and business professional attire, button-ups are the perfect go-to item for a laidback look. With a quick roll of the sleeves, your button-up instantly goes from dressy to casual. You can also unfasten a few of the buttons, but keep it to a two-button max! Button-ups and exposed chests are an absolute no-go! If you want to undo more, take a cue from our Fashionisto and don a classic tee underneath (both V-necks and crewnecks work). For an even more relaxed feel, you can skip the buttons and rock the button-up as an overcoat for the tee. In these wintry months, layering adds the extra bonus of keeping you warm without overheating.

The rolled sleeves of our Fashionisto’s button-up are perfectly complemented by the cuff in his jeans. Thinly cuffed over twice, these jeans work to show off his brown, lace-up oxfords. These leather, ankle-high oxfords provide a subtle refinement to the ensemble. Not too dressy and a far cry from your everyday Sperry Top-Siders, these loafers can instantly upgrade any outfit.

Despite the casual air of this fit, there is nothing thrown together about it! The contrast of the light blue shirt and the dark-rinse jeans gives us all a lesson on the importance of nuance. This gent also pays fit its due attention in his selection of jeans. They are long enough that the cuffs hit right at the ankle and slim enough that the cuffs aren’t overly bulky. When cuffing jeans, slim fit or straight leg is always ideal!

Hint: If this week’s dapper don has you itching for a button-up, your options are endless. From your local department store to stores like Banana Republic and Old Navy, there is a button-up out there that will suit your fancy. For similar oxfords, browse through Steve Madden and ALDO.
