STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Hats Off

Style Advice of the Week

There’s nothing better than a day at the beach with the sunshine, your best friends and a big floppy hat to protect your face from the sun’s harmful rays (lobster red and Snooki orange are two shades we never want to be, right?). Just because summer is long gone doesn’t mean your wide brimmed hat should be. In fact, fall and winter are the perfect seasons for a floppy hat. There’s something seductive about the way the hat conceals and shadows parts of your face and is the perfect accessory to amp up an outfit. 1970s fashion has made a comeback the past few seasons (wide legged pants, circle sun glasses and bohemian dresses) and the floppy wide brimmed hat is my personal favorite.

This week’s Fashionista is wearing a sleeveless, navy blue pleated dress, skinny brown belt which adds dimension to her solid colored dress. She tops off her look with classic black flats and a black wide brimmed hat. Her hat adds the perfect amount of sophistication to her look and goes great with her subtle ombre.

There are plenty of stellar wide brimmed hats out right now and styling them is simple. For a look like this week’s Fashionista, pair this navy dress cinched with a thin belt and a black floppy hat. For an every day and every occasion look, pair black super skinnies, a white tank and this Kate Spade hat. Throw on some black heels and a blazer and you’re good to go.
