September is coming to a halt, and with the end of September comes the official end of summer. So long to forgetting and not caring, not knowing which day of the week it is, salty beach waves and that sun kissed glow from too many hours in the sun. Yet with each end comes a new beginning, and lucky for us, the beginning of nearly everyone’s favorite season for fashion: fall. This season, it’s going to be all about faux leather pants and skirts, tapestry inspired prints and best of all, burgundy.
Last fall, mustard and burnt yellow hues were a popular trend. This season it looks like were going to find deep, rich colors, especially burgundy, making a prominent statement in our fall wardrobes. The color was seen all over the runway at New York Fashion Week. Rag & Bone, Peter Som, Alexander Wang and Christian Sirano, among many, featured deep, sangria hued burgundy in their collections. This week’s Fashionista styled her burgundy with black, the way many designers did at NYFW. She paired her burgundy sweater with a black, chiffon collared shirt, black denim, and black Dr. Martens. She finished the look with winged eye-liner and the perfect wine tinted lip color.
Burgundy is a great fall color because it looks good on nearly every skin tone and is the perfect accenting color to a monochromatic look of any neutral. Try some velvet shorts, a fit and flare tank dress and the perfect fall skinnies, all in a rich burgundy hue. A raspberry beret hasn’t sounded this good since Prince.
