STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Gold Digger

Style Advice of the Week

Spring semester at USF has finally begun and, as a junior, I can tell you that “syllabus week” no longer exists. So long to the first week of classes being formalities and reading your syllabi, I’m already knee-deep in work. That being said, a busy school schedule means I have less time to devote towards planning outfits everyday that belong in an issue of Vogue. Minimal and cozy (yoga pants don’t count) are my rules of thumb for long days on campus. This week’s Fashionista masters just that without sacrificing style. She paired plum skinny jeans with a loose fitting white T-shirt, a baggy black cardigan and finished the look with gold accents in her watch and over the body of her black bag. It’s simple, effortless and perfect for class.

As this week’s Fashionista demonstrates, minimal and cozy doesn’t have to mean yoga pants and a hoodie. The key to making sure a simple outfit isn’t plain Jane and boring are accessories. Her gold accents dress up the look and add dimension. Any of your favorite accessories will do, but gold accents in particular have been trending. For a look like this Fashionista’s, pair your favorite skinnies with a loose fitting shirt and this knitted cardigan. Add a gold watch or layer a few delicate gold necklaces. For a more dressed up way to style gold accents, pair your favorite LBD with this cuff or for a more bohemian look, a head chain. Don’t be afraid to layer gold on your wrists, fingers or neck. Stacking gold jewelry looks great with an all-black outfit and ensures your look is not at all boring. So just this once, go ahead and be a gold digger (Kanye West is unfortunately off limits).
