STYLE GURU BIO: Charnay Pickett

Style Guru Bio

My name is Charnay Pickett and I am a sophomore at Indiana University Bloomington majoring in Journalism and minoring in Apparel Merchandising.

I have always had a passion for fashion. In the sixth grade we had to do a project about the career we wanted to have when we grew up. I made the cutest diorama of my office as a major fashion designer (and earned a prime viewing spot in the classroom due to my great diorama making skills). But like all dreams, mine changed. The realm of fashion is so wide and I didn’t want to miss any of it. It wasn’t until high school that I realized what I wanted to do. Instead of designing my own line, I could inspire other aspiring fashion designers by writing about the fashion in the world around me. Words have always amazed me and to use them to spread a passion of mine seemed like the greatest idea imaginable.

While fashion is fun to look at, I think we can all agree that it is way more fun to wear. I would describe my style as classic and girly. I love lace and pastels. I am also a strong believer in less is more. I like to find a great dress or top and let it speak for itself.  A few of my favorite brands include American Rag, Material Girl and anything from dELiA*s. When it comes to accessories, the bacon of fashion, I believe that you can never have too many earrings. In my opinion, earrings can make or break an outfit. Without them, my daily outfits are a strawberry shortcake without the strawberries—pointless.

I am so happy to write for CollegeFashionista this semester! Look for my posts every Tuesday, LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS! I can’t wait to share more fashion tips, and food analogies, with you all!
