FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Printing Time

Uncategorized

We can never get enough of prints. Prints of all colours and designs definitely makes one shine amongst the crowd, just like this Fashionista. I love the recent trend of chic retro, classy prints that have been invested into scarfs and pants. I was walking behind this Fashionista down Swanston Street when her gorgeous detailed bowie pants caught my attention in a matter of seconds. It was literally a spotlight moment when I fell in love with those inticate details and patterns on these slim fit pants. I must say, the camel trench adds a polished overall feel to the outfit, and I'm loving it.

Name: Amanda Peters

Major: Marketing & Advertising

Year: Two

CollegeFashionista: Awesome pants! (laughs) What inspired you to mix and match your current oufit?

Amanda Peters: Aww, thank you. This pants was one of my favourite buys ever (laughs). I think i wanted to keep the pants as the statement piece in my outfit, so i decided to go with a neutral coat and a pair of dark brown sandals as well. I'm not much of a black lover either so colours or at least more neutral tones would be my staple in matching any loud clothing pieces like this pants.

CF: What other types of prints have caught your eye recently?

AP: Florals are definitely a must have for girls because it's just so versatile for every occassion and its gorgeous with the diverse colours and designs. I've recently bought like crazy amounts of floral leggings and pants from Dotti and Jay Jays, it's so pretty and feminine. Another print I love would be the digital prints that have like stars or galaxy prints. I think it's pretty funky and it definitely adds an edge to any outfit.

CF: So whereabouts did you get your pants from and would you say 'print fashion' is your favourite trend now?

AP:  I wish I could tell you but I can't remember exactly which shop but I know Maurie & Eve sells really similar ones. I think lots of boutiques along Brunswick Street also have them so you can try your luck there. Absolutley I love prints right now. I think prints are for eternity because every season there's bound to be prints but it's a matter of what type. It could be scarf print, chain print, polka dots, jagged lines or even florals. There's just too many to love and choose from.

CF: For classics like your trench coat, it's really nicely tailored and chic. Where would you usually shop for classics and trendy pieces?

AP: Everywhere and anywhere. I think Melbourne has infinite places for everyone to get adventurous and explore fashion. But I definitely love huge malls where I can find everything across all brands and styles. So for me Chadstone Shopping Mall would be the best, and I do love the occassional surprises from flea markets and vintage boutiques on Smith Street as well. I also love heading to Melbourne Central as well after a long day of school. For classics, I just suggest heading to tailors and getting them customised as classic usually go a long way as a wardrobe staple, so an investment would be great.

CF: Lastly, do you have any style tips you would love to share?

AP: Do not get greedy with wanting to stand out but its great to always have at least one statement making accessory or clothing in an outfit. You must also feel comfortable and confident in the statement piece as well because it is only with the right attitude, then you'll be able to pull off the best ideal outfit amongst the crowd.
