LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Mixing Patterns

Let's Hear it for the Boys

This week’s Fashionisto does a great job mixing and matching unusual patterns for a polished, grungy look. Typically the pieces wouldn’t be considered “polished” on their own, in my professional opinion, but he wears them as if they are designer- and tops it off with a classic fedora, like a cherry on top of a perfect outfit.

This Fashionisto mixes a distressed black tie dye shirt with a classic plaid shirt. The neutral colors used in his undershirt with the blacks and grays don'’t clash against his more vibrant plaid shirt. In fact, they mesh well together, into a cohesive, unique outfit worth writing about.

What caught my eye about this week’s Fashionisto though, is that he paired his already subtly loud outfit with a fedora. Most guys wouldn’t have the cahonies to add accessories to this noticeably fashionable outfit. They would retreat to a more conservative version of it. Not this Fashionisto though! He wears his heart on his sleeves, quite literally, and I love it when guys work their personalities into their wardrobe. Girls have a million ways to do so, so it’s fun to see guys work with what they got, and succeed with flying colors.

His bottom half is not as loud, as he wears tight blue jeans, and Converse. This was a good move for this week’s Fashionisto. As summer comes to a close, he’ll want to be able to go from the beach to a house party without much lag time in between. This outfit is casual enough for fun days out to parties with friends, and I can promise you, everyone you come in contact with will appreciate the eye candy of your outfit and the mixing of those irresistible patterns.
