Taylor Swift has been leading this trend since she stepped onto the music scene in the early 2000’s, and more recently floral headbands were harnessed in the Dolce and Gabbana fall 2012 runway show. Not that anyone would ever doubt Taylor Swift’s fashion sense, but it is safe to say that headbands are a major fashion staple this season. Headbands are a great fashion accessory because they are versatile and unique. If you look around you’ll find them in floral, metallic, rope, beaded, sparkly and more. There is guaranteed one to suit all tastes.
On the runway, you will find headbands accompanied by straight or wavy hair with a prominent middle part. The look is so easy to pull off and will make you stand out in the crowd, as did this Fashionista, her headband is delicate and feminine and define her overall look, which could be described in one word as 'pretty'. But who says a headband has to be an actual headband? Pucci’s fall 2012 show decked models in small feminine braids as headbands, sitting about an inch back from their hairline, so as to show the middle parting of their long, wavy locks.
I have gone a little overboard trying to find some cute little headbands that you can buy. Here are my favourite: the Lavender Bridal whimsy wreath halo headband, the Daenerys-velvet hydrangea and peacock crown, the Rustic Love hair wreath and the whimsical headband with rhinestone and fabric detail, all on Etsy. Also check out the Rosette Trio headband from Forever 21.
Are you the creative type? Why not hit the arts and crafts stores and collect interesting beads, fabrics, elastics and faux flowers and design your own creation? Sometimes it’s the little things that make us feel pretty, and this look is all about feeling beautiful! Be inspired!
