This week I scoured the whole campus looking for trends and what I found was that the Fashionistos on campus are really dominating the newest looks in fashion. This Fashionisto in particular knew exactly how to create a striking ensemble with tough military inspired extras. Dressed in an outfit with so much detail, I was hard pressed on learning the secret to wearing multiple accessories, especially the leather gloves and the statement ball cap. He made it all look so effortless.
I really think that it is wise for every guy to know how to accessorize well. This rule would hold true if you were only wearing a button-down and straight legged jeans or a nice sports blazer and trousers. Most looks truly are all about the details. Besides it is much more cost effective to buy staple wardrobe pieces and purchase statement extras to switch up your look. Since the military trend is one that is easy to incorporate into any look and leather for spring is something that was all over the runways, go out and purchase a cool pair of leather driving gloves. There are many options out there, you can even get them in great color combinations or dye them yourself since colored leather was also big on the runways for the spring season. Remember since this is leather we are talking about make sure that your gloves are transitional and light, not the heavy variety for the winter. Think about ones with strategic cutouts at the knuckles like those that this Fashionisto is wearing.
Taking a close up of his look, you start to notice all of the simple touches including the leather wrap around watch, checkered scarf, the tortoise shell shades and lastly those military style leather boots. Honestly I could go on and on here. He is a master of the mix, completely edgy but well thought out.
His mix of accessories make sure that his outfit is full of surprises and far from boring. He could have just stopped at the leather gloves to complement the boots, but he took it a step further infusing the look with loads of personality. He even went so far as to top it all off with a simple denim jacket personalized with cool button pins placed on the pockets. Oh and I can’t forget about those camouflage print pants either! Trust me, try a pair — they act as a neutral and mix well with tons of outfit options. The Balmain spring 2013 runway really showcased a tailored take on how to mix and match the military look, complete with leather accents and edgy pants. This look really got me inspired, I think I found my new source of inspiration to shop this spring season!
