STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Summer Sweater

Style Advice of the Week

Despite soaring temperatures during the summertime having a great summer sweater is an important staple for not just Fashionistas but for the guys as well. This Fashionisto was spotted wearing a simple J.Crew pullover sweater, proving that sweaters are not just for fall.

A summer sweater should be one made from a lighter material such as cotton or a light summer cashmere. Picking the right color is always important — try and go light or stick to a navy color. This way mixing and matching will be easier and you will get the most out of your sweater. This Fashionisto has created a simple look that is light in color, which is perfect for any afternoon and a great transition into the night when the temperature may drop. His light blue chinos are a great alternative to the basic colors and a bit subtler than Nantucket red (for those Fashionisto’s afraid of a little color).

I like how this Fashionisto demonstrates eclecticism with his appearance and accessories. His grown-out mohawk hairstyle and modern watch counter balance the rest of the look. Combining two styles is always fun and adds personality to a simple look.

Achieving this Fashionisto’s look is simple. J.Crew offers these chino shorts in a variety of colors in two different lengths (I personally am liking the 9 inch which is a bit shorter). This Fashionisto is wearing traditional Sperry Topsiders and his watch is a Nixon similar to this one here. This Nixon watch has the same modern feel with its digital face. Lastly J.Crew offers a great variety of sweaters, from pullovers to half zips and everything in between, and in great colors as well.
