On a campus as big as ours here in Happy Valley, when a trend hits you see it everywhere. Aside from the perennial Northface and Uggs combo that hits campus the first remotely chilly day of the year, the definite trend winner this semester has been denim button-down shirts. I love this trend because the simplicity of the shirts makes them the perfect canvas for some amazing accessories.
Proof of this comes from this week’s Fashionista. A gorgeous faceted stone statement necklace polishes off her chambray top and leggings combo. The black stones contrast perfectly against the light denim, which lets the necklace serve as the focal point of the entire outfit.
Statement necklaces are such an easy way to incorporate a bright color or different texture into your look. While there are an endless amount of to-die-for statement necklaces on shelves, runways and necks everywhere right now, I picked three really distinctive pieces to share. Anthropologie’s Lemon Zest Confetti Necklace will give any outfit a summery burst of color. Their Byzantine Floral Choker is also a really cool option, especially in green. One last statement option I’m loving is NASTY GAL’s Triangle Collar Necklace. All three necklaces are unique and would absolutely keep any outfit from looking drab.
So Fashionistas, whether its for a fabulous night out or dressing up an outfit for class, let your new statement necklace live up to its name.
Spotted: Elie Saab sent models down the runway for her spring 2011 ready-to-wear show in thick chain statement necklaces. The necklaces contrasted with the flowing, feminine gowns and tops, giving a cool masculine versus feminine feel to the collection.
