ACCESSORIES REPORT: Give Your Sandals The Boot

Accessories Report

I have no greater delight than when after wearing sandals for three months (at best, thanks Pennsylvania weather), I can finally make the switch to boots. Every Fashionista should have at least one really great quality pair of boots. They should be able to dress up a pair of skinny jeans and a sweater or dress down a dress you would otherwise pair with heels. For me, my two-year-old pair leather, camel-colored Lucky Brand boots are my go-to.

What better time to spot an amazing pair of boots on this week’s Fashionista, than on one of the first perfect fall days in Happy Valley. Here it always seems to go from hot and humid to parkas and gloves without much time in between. But this week’s Fashionista took full advantage of the fall day by venturing downtown in a gray sweater, leggings and a pair of brown leather boots.

What really makes the boots is the detailing. The exposed zipper on the outer side of the boots and the button tab over it near the top of the boot are great. These two details make the boots more unique and set them apart from the thousands of boots I see everyday on campus.

If you want a pair of similar boots to swoon over, I would suggest the Frye “Melissa Button” Boots in Cognac. Known for the quality of their products, these boots would definitely be a chic investment piece. Your wallet might not thank me, but your feet will. Steve Madden’s “Candence” Boot is another great option, especially in tan.

Spotted: For fall 2012 Ready-To-Wear at New York Fashion Week, Hervé Léger sent models down the runway in the most amazing boots. Knee-high and with cutout sides, these boots had an equestrian meets barbarian feel.
