Well I don’t mind splurging on some must-have items (such as some Frye boots I’ve had my eye on for a while) I am a huge promoter of vintage and thrift store shopping. Take this Fashionista I spotted on the quad while on my way to class. Her outfit is a classic choice with a high collared jade-colored shirt (a big color for the autumn I’d like to add) along with high-waist shorts along with a skinny belt. But even better are her accessories, all from thrift stores!
In particular, I love her shoulder saddlebag. Saddlebags have been popular the past few seasons and still are for this fall. They are great because they go with almost every outfit and are durable, most times being made out of some kind of leather. Although there are fabric and patterned ones as well! In addition, I love the rustic feel they give to an outfit without being too trendy. Regardless of what kind of saddlebag a Fashionista might choose, I don’t think you can go wrong. Although you Fashionistas can splurge on a designer handbag such as this Michael Kors one here, why not give your wallet a break and go for something vintage? That way your style is even more personal and everything you wear has a story. This Fashionista’s earrings and shirt are from a thrift store as well.
My favorite vintage store to shop at back in D.C. is Annie CreamCheese, a more upscale vintage store, near Georgetown University, or Current Boutique close to the neighborhood Logan Circle. I feel like I always come out of these stores with great finds that no one else necessarily has and at a great price. For all you Fashionistas who have not yet experienced these kinds of stores, I highly recommend it!
