Today’s Fashionisto has layered his way to a great winter outfit. His blue gingham button-up combined with a gray pullover is reminiscent of Prada’s fall 2013 menswear collection, which featured a similar look. He achieves a polished yet casual ensemble for class by combining preppy pieces with downtown chic outerwear and accessories. His fur-lined black coat is not too chunky while the brown straps of his backpack tie in with his leather lace-up boots. Wearing a mixture of high and low pieces (his button-up is from H&M while his coat is by Japanese label Attachment), he’s the ultimate example of a CollegeFashionisto. Read more about him below.
Name: Jacobi Hollingshed
Year: Senior
Major: Creative Direction
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Jacobi Hollingshed: Maybe a mix of both feminine and masculine. I like to put both of them together — mixing and matching and stuff like that.
CF: What’s your favorite thing to wear this season?
JH: I’m loving coats; coats are a staple.
CF: Is there something in particular that inspires your style?
JH: Not really — I’ll just go in stores and see what I like. If I like it, then I’ll buy it.
CF: Where do you shop?
JH: I shop at Topshop. I shop a lot online. There’s a website called YesStyle.com and they have really unique clothing — I shop there a lot.
How To: To get this Fashionisto’s look, layer a collared shirt with a crew neck cardigan. J.Crew sells great men’s sweaters in a variety of colors, and for even cheaper options check out ASOS. For outerwear, battle the cold and wind with a black parka. Also, take a cue from today’s Fashionisto and wear mostly neutrals like brown, gray and black. Then add in a colored detail such as a printed shirt for a pop of something extra.
