Long gone are the days when flannels were for boys and band T-shirts belonged at rock concerts or to garage bands. This week’s Fashionista was spotted on her way to lunch with friends after a Management class at Florida International University. She was rocking the laid back look, but not in an unkempt way.
She threw a long sleeved flannel on top of a loose top and leggings, perfect for a rainy day in Miami. She completed the outfit by pairing the “I’m with the band look” with gold Chloé flats and her very own Louis Vuitton bag that she recently acquired on a trip to Paris.
The signature items in her closet mixed in this look show a mélange of her preppy polished style and rocker-laidback days, a mix of high and low many Fashionistas are dying to conquer, yet few succeed at.
Take the hint! On a casual day, when wearing leggings or flannels to class, throw on a timeless piece, such as a statement bag or great shoes and instantly turn your look from lazy to tailored.
If you find large men’s shirts with cool prints, take a risk with a D.I.Y project! Cut off the neck and sides, as low as you wish, making it into a tank top, you can often find them in thrift stores. If the tank top is low on the rib, try a flowery or lacy bra for within, showing just a little through the sides. This keeps the mystery intact while expressing a softer side of your personality.
