STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Almonds And Chestnuts

Style Advice of the Week

A sunny Saturday in Manhattan after a night of frolicking snow outside our dorm window calls for a New Yorker’s favorite weekend pastimes–brunch!

When I spotted this Fashionista she was heading downtown to have brunch with friends and possibly head to the Brooklyn Bridge, if the cold weather permitted it.

In her choice of colors and silhouette I found slight resemblances of two of my favorite ready-to-wear spring 2013 shows. Her chestnut and almond-colored outfit fit somewhere between Alexander Wang’s monochromatic one-hued collection and rag & bone’s hardly-structured dismantled looks.

This Fashionista’s corduroy pants gave the perfect texture contrast against her piled tweed coat. She finished her look with a beret the color of her coat and an accessory still seen around campus quite frequently this winter, an infinity scarf.

The close-to-nude and various shades of brown make for a simple yet versatile look. In warmer days, if a coat is not needed, the same effect can be achieved with a cardigan by one of my favorite designers, Whitney Eve. Finish it off with broken in chocolate brown combat boots, keeping you warm and fashionable!
