Oscar Wilde said once: “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.” This is the perfect explanation to why I never skip a day of school or dress shabbily while doing anything. I’m Callie, Junior at Minnesota State University and this is my second semester on board with the Style Guru team. I am thrilled to profile some of the most fabulous Fashionista/o’s at my school. With a major in communications and a minor in sociology, I’m obsessed with people and everything around them, especially their clothes, shoes, and accessories.
As many of my readers already know, I used to be a total tomboy. I’m talking jersey shorts past my knees with a Minnesota Lynx t-shirt and flip flops… I know, I have no excuse. Fortunately I came to the realization that what I was wearing was not clearly reflecting my bubbly personality, and just in time to go off to college where I could make a new name for myself and put those awful days behind me. With a little determination and a lot of help from Vogue, I put on my Jeffrey Campbell’s and neon lipstick and was ready to walk my campus like a runway. Life’s too short to not embrace your girly side, right?
I absolutely love to travel! In my twenty years of life I have been blessed to see so much of the world already, but I am nowhere near finished. I love to study culture and the way people dress, it inspires me to take fashion risks of my own. Speaking of risks, you should know I take a lot of them. My patterns never match, I over-accessorize and I’m not afraid to bring back trends from decades past.
