Fall and winter of 2012/2013 marks the return of all things bold and beautiful from decadent colored denim and jackets to embellished sleeves and shoes. Speaking of all things bold and beautiful, this Fashionista struck my eye with her bold statement of a jacket. It is safe to say this Fashionista mimics bold and beautiful while she rocks her mustard yellow leather-inspired jacket paired with a neutral, gray scarf.
Every season there is always a massive amount of jacket and coat styles, sizes and fabrics to choose from. It is hard to find the perfect one that goes with your style, body type and are good quality. Over the years, I have come to the realization that everyone should invest in at least one (or two) jacket(s) of good quality that will be the right fit to your body shape. Personally, I can never have just one jacket. Of course I need the typical trench coat jacket that hits just about at the knees like this Fashionista found at Gap, but I also need that one chic jacket that could be worn on the night on the town or to an evening gathering.
However, finding all these types of jackets could also be a bit of a headache. Some never fit in the shoulders correctly, some may be too long or some may just be plain old awful in every sense of the word. A great way to start picking out your perfect jackets of the season is to first consider your body shape. For example, a woman with an apple-shaped body type should focus more on jackets that nip at your waist or have a belt. This will give the illusion of a smaller waist and trim on your stomach. Jackets and coats that look best on a pear-shaped body are ones that usually have some type of shoulder pad or puffed sleeve. This helps balance out the wider bottom of the body. As far as hourglass shaped women, fitted and tailored coats and jackets will be one of the best choices. This type of jacket will slim down into the waist and emphasize your figure perfectly. Lastly, the “boyish” shaped body type women follow the same rules as tops, a tailored, curvy jacket, possibly one that flares out from the waist will give the illusion of a more hourglass figure and accentuate the body beautifully.
So, next time you are shopping for your next ultimate jacket for the season keep in mind that there is a perfect jacket for everyone. Good luck, Fashionsitas!
