FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Arielle Coy de Vega and Brittany Coy

Fashionista Spotlight

We’ve begun to notice the changing colors of the leaves, but have you noticed the colors of denim and khaki changing? More commonly, stores and Fashionista/os are stocking up on vibrant, kaleidoscopic pants, brightening up their outfits on days that are becoming greyer. These sisters’ laughter does that too, as they’re some of the most hilarious people I’ve ever met. They have a knack for aptly nicknaming, and their witty wordplay makes it so interesting to watch them interact. Their intensely natural beauty combines with tricks and styles they have picked up on their worldly travels, a recent trip was scaling Asian mountains! As a result, many of their signature looks give them the appearance of having fallen out of a Free People catalogue, if you were to add the sugar and spice of a Swedish and Cuban family heritage.  Here are their secrets, disclosed.

Name: Arielle Coy de Vega

Major: Architecture

Year: Sophomore

Name: Brittany Coy

Major: Accounting/International Buisiness

Year: Super Senior

CollegeFashionista: Why do you love getting dressed in the Autumn?

Arielle Coy: I love dressing for autumn because it’s an excuse to wear funky oversized sweaters with lots of layers. Combat boots and scarves are another HUGE plus to fall attire.

Brittany Coy: For me, the best part of fall is being able to layer my favorite pieces into one awesome outfit.

CF: What are you most comfortable wearing?

AC: I’m most comfortable in anything that's not suffocating or constricting. In other words, nothing tight fitting.

BC: Hands down stretchy pants. The green pants I'm wearing have the perfect amount of give so I don't feel restricted. Also: scarves. I rarely leave the house without one. They're kind of my security blanket.

CF: How do you express yourself through fashion?

AC: I express myself through fashion in a casual manner. My style is pretty boho chic with an arabesque hue.

BC: I consider fashion as an extension of oneself. It's a perfect way to convey your personality and your mood without even saying anything. What I wear just depends on what kind of attitude I wake up with. And that, my friends, is the beauty of it.

CF: What inspired these outfits?

AC: Deep, rich colors inspired my outfit

BC: 98 per cent of this outfit came from Arielle's closet. I wake up every morning and ask myself: WWAW? (what would Arielle wear). She's constantly surprising me with how she styles herself.

How To: Play up the bottom half of your outfit this fall. Some interesting corduroy hues are available through Anthropologie. Free People shows off green and purple denim here. Feel free to wear a contrasting colored top to show off the color-blocking trend, or keep it neutral to really accentuate your bold-legged Autumn outfit. Layering is key this season, in style and in practicality, so mix new colors and fabrics in whenever you have the opportunity to capture this pretty, bohemian look.
