It’s beginning to look a lot like spring around UCLA’s campus. I’ve seen a wide range of light blues to corals, and I am loving this new color palette. I was really drawn to this Fashionista because of the blue in her shirt, the adorable bow in her hair and the bright yellow clutch in her right hand. Maybe this caught my eye because of my strong addiction to the American Apparel bow, which is a must have. I was very surprised to find out that she made this bow herself! This is a cute and fun DIY project that can add that extra kick to your outfit.
Bows are a really big deal right now. They have been seen in the fashion world as go-to accessories, but they have never been as popular as they are now. I’m sure when you think about bows, you think about the ridiculous ones that you used to wear when you were a child, but we have all outgrown that phase in our lives and bows are now appropriate to wear again. They are a sign of femininity — not only can they be worn in your hair, but they can also adorn garments.
But remember, bows should always act as an accessory; they shouldn’t overpower your outfit. As seen on this Fashionista, bows are great and they can instantly transform your outfit from simple to fab! I really enjoyed the arm candy this Fashionista is rocking — from the ring to the watch. On her left hand, this Fashionista wears a class ring that was passed down to her from her grandmother. Accessories can tell a story; who you are as person, where you have been, your family, etc. Accessories that tell a story are the best kind. They help to reveal our inner beauty and put it on display for others.
Spotted: Bows were a runway inspiration for Marc Jacobs in channeling Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan.
