Some people say that wearing mostly black comes off as gothic; others might say it reads emotional. However, in any Style Guru’s eye, black gives off a certain conservative sophistication. During days like today, when the weather is unpredictable, it proves essential to have the upper hand, an ensemble that sticks out but is rain-ready from head-to-toe.
I noticed today’s Fashionisto on my trek to the Theatre department. He caught my attention, not particularly because of his fashion statement, but because he managed to do something I did not. He “weathered the weather” in the day's sporadic showers.
He began with a basic slim-fitting, straight-leg black jean. On a day where it’s likely to be sticky and wet out, it was ideal for him to pair the jeans with a simple gray Hurley tee. To give the ensemble an urban-retro feel, he added a '90s looking, European style black jacket from Express Men. His choice to roll up the sleeves and show off his accessories gave the look a relaxed and comfortable feel. To piece together the outfit, he chose to wear a pair of mid-top Converse Weapons that follow the color scheme of his ensemble: the perfect look for a wet and muggy day.
No Fashionisto wants to have a perfect ensemble ruined by the rain. On rainy days, it is ideal to wear darker colors such as black, so your look won’t get damaged. Better to be a tad conservative but fashion forward, then to have your light wash clothes and shoes ruined.
