FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Alicia Lorio

Fashionista Spotlight

When in doubt, always fall back on neutrals. Browns, grays and blacks will always be the building blocks of a functional wardrobe and can actually make or break an outfit. Done right, these colors can bring on a vibrancy of their own. This Fashionista paired a grey and white sweater with black pants and brown boots. Although some may say they don’t go together, I think they work harmoniously.

Name: Alicia Lorio

Major: Child Development and Education

Year: Senior

College Fashionista: What do you have on today?

Alicia Lorio: Today I am wearing an oversized sweater from Express and leggings, paired with dark mahogany boots and a red scarf.

CF: With the possibility of snow looming ahead, what are your go-to stay warm items?

AL: With the possibility of snow, my go-to stay warm items will include boots, wool scarves, several layers and fleece gloves. These items will be essential during these cold months to prepare for Columbia’s frequent weather extremes.

CF: What's your go-to item when you're in a hurry?

AL: My go-to item when I’m in a hurry are leggings. I love how comfy they are and how, when paired with boots and an oversized sweater, they can transform a simple comfy look into cute.

CF: What trend do you think will be popular this winter?

AL: This winter I think chunky scarves, knit, oversized sweaters and faux fur vests will be popular, along with the classic riding boots and a simple peacoat—which always seem trendy around this time.

CF: What's on your fashion Christmas wish list?

AL: For Christmas I want riding boots and more chunky knit scarves to brace the cold!

How To: Conquer early winter style like this Fashionista with this chunky sweater. Add some simple black jeans or leggings and a pair of riding boots. Feeling risqué? Try on some black leather like this on for size.
