STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Oversize Me

Style Advice of the Week

Just as spring seemed to be creeping up, this past week proved quite the opposite. Unfortunately, we get to enjoy this freezing weather for a little while longer, but on the upside, we also get to sport our winter outfits for a little while longer. On days like this one, when it’s 25 degrees out and you just want to bundle up in the covers and never leave bed (but obviously have to for class), try a cozy outfit that will provide comfort as well as fashion throughout the day.

One great cozy piece of clothing is an oversized sweater. If you wear this sweater over a pair of leggings, jeans or overall slimmer pants it will not only provide more comfort, but will also show off a cute pair of boots as well as your legs. Often times people think that wearing an oversized sweater has the potential to make you look frumpy and unattractive, but this has changed because there are so many adorable large sweaters available now. This Fashionista exemplifies the comfy but cute trend: the stripes and the uneven bottom give the sweater a little more dimension and, when worn with a coat, look simple yet put together.

These sweaters come in many varieties, all based upon how much design and detail that you personally like. If you’re digging the stripes on this Fashionista, check out this sweater from Karmaloop. Want something a little more intricate and interesting? Try this crochet sweater from Urban Outfitters which (as shown) can also be paired with a skirt or can basically be worn as a dress. Another great alternative is this sweater which has a Fair Isle pattern that makes it a little more interesting. You can also carry this trend on into the spring with a cardigan that has a similarly oversized feel.

Bundle up while the winter lasts, BU, but also remember to start preparing for the spring as it’s right around the corner!
